click speed test

Click speed test (CPS test)

Pick a duration, click the panel to start, and keep clicking until the timer runs out. The test reports clicks per second, total clicks and your personal best for that duration, stored locally in your browser.

What this click speed test measures

It counts pointer-down events inside the panel and divides them by the length of the run, giving clicks per second (CPS). It is a measure of your clicking technique and stamina, not of mouse hardware latency — for that, use the mouse latency test.

How to use it

  1. 01Choose the duration you want to compare against — 5 or 10 seconds is standard.
  2. 02Your first click starts the timer, so no countdown is needed.
  3. 03Keep clicking inside the panel until the timer reaches zero.
  4. 04Repeat a few runs and read your typical score, not your single best.
  5. 05Use the same duration and the same mouse when comparing sessions.

How the score is calculated

CPS equals total clicks divided by the exact run length measured with a high-resolution timer. The timer starts on your first click and stops the frame after the duration elapses, so partial frames do not inflate the score. Held buttons and auto-repeat do not register: each click needs a separate press.

What affects your score

Clicking technique (normal, jitter, butterfly, drag), mouse switch type and debounce time, grip, wrist fatigue, and whether you use a trackpad or touchscreen. Very high scores generally come from technique rather than hardware, and aggressive techniques put real wear on mouse switches.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good CPS score?+
On a 5 second click speed test, most people land around 5–7 clicks per second. Around 8–10 CPS is fast, and sustained scores above 12 CPS usually involve techniques like jitter or butterfly clicking.
What is the difference between 1, 5 and 10 second tests?+
Short runs reward burst speed, longer runs reward stamina and consistency. Compare your score against the same duration each time, since CPS naturally drops as the run gets longer.
Does clicking faster help in games?+
It helps in games that use semi-automatic weapons or rapid interactions, but accuracy and timing usually matter more. Extreme clicking techniques can also wear out a mouse switch quickly.
Are my scores saved anywhere?+
Your best score per duration is stored in your own browser only. Nothing is uploaded and clearing your browser data removes it.
